George School Advances in PAISAA Soccer Tournament

George School 2 Haverford School 0
George School Junior and Newtown resident, Emilio Pellegrini opened the first half scoring for George School with a beautiful left-footed shot that found the top corner of the Haverford net.  The YMS product did his club proud with his skillful finish.  Emilio was assisted by Tyler Flowers.  CJ Jaikaria scored with his head minutes later to give GS the 2-0 lead.  It was another beautiful goal that required teamwork and courage on CJ's part as he cut in front of the Haverford goalkeeper to get a touch on the ball to finish the well-worked corner kick play.  From there, George School played with determination to keep Haverford off the scoreboard and had a few opportunities of their own to extend the lead but excellent play by the Haverford goalkeeper kept the game close.  The entire team played an excellent game anchored by the backline of Ryan Mitchell, Safi Baadarani-Feeney, Denys Sharpylo, & Basem Baadarani-Feeney.  GS also got strong midfield play from Bill Becker, Emilio & Tyler. Dash Atwood stood tall in the net for GS to earn the shutout. Also contributing to the win were: Tale Ef-Akhigbe, Efram Krasovic, Justin Liu, Sam Mottershead, Paul Roesch, Sam Tchoumandrine, Gavin Steiner & Owen Yerkes.  Fullback, Derek Denoon who is recovering from an ankle injury, and backup goalkeeper Noah Pashman were the only two available GS players that did not see action in the game.  Next up for GS is a meeting with another Inter AC school, this time it will be at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy on 11/9/21 at 2:15 PM.
